In 1797 Fishguard saved Wales from the French invasion. Welcome to our historic town.
Fishguard and Goodwick are known as the twin towns, where dramatic sea views, a working harbour, and the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline combine to create a place full of character and charm.
What makes the towns special is their strong sense of community, reflected in the many independent shops, cafés, pubs, galleries, and family-run businesses that give the area its unique identity and warm welcome. Rich in history, Fishguard is famous as the site of the Last Invasion of Britain, when French forces landed nearby in 1797 before surrendering just days later, an event still celebrated through local landmarks and the remarkable Last Invasion Tapestry.
