Whether you are a visitor or a resident of North Pembrokeshire, you will be surprised at the range of small independent shops in Fishguard and Goodwick. We don’t have the glitzy shopping malls of cities. Our shops tend to be family businesses, so why not take time to chat with those who serve you. Take the opportunity to learn about the local area, its history, and some Welsh language phrases.
We are blessed with having three chemists, two dentists, optometrist, health food shop, delicatessen, several local craft and gift shops, stationers, card shops, two post offices, jewellers, art galleries, antiques, haberdashery, DIY, furniture, household goods, fresh food, butchers, electrical supplies, supermarkets, sweet shop, florist, beauticians, hairdressers, clothes, four charity shops, lots of cafes and takeaways and more than enough pubs to go round!
To complement all these we have markets on Thursdays and Saturdays. If you need more money there are several cash machines. The skills of local people expand beyond art, craft and music. You can get your clothes repaired, watch batteries replaced, cars repaired, and much more, so just ask since you can get most of your needs met here in Fishguard and Goodwick. You need fishing tackle, to plan a wedding or even a funeral, legal or financial advice? You want to know about local history, to find a taxi to the airport, an umbrella or a spare pair of socks? This is Friendly Fishguard – we can probably find what you want!
Seaways Bookshop
Seaways is an independent bookshop in the heart of Fishguard and we are proud of our interesting, wide-ranging stock of books. We also sell maps, guidebooks, art materials, bargain books, beautiful cards, CDs, gift wrap and jigsaws. If we don’t have the book you want in stock we are happy to order it for you – and usually have it by the next day.

Fishguard Thursday Market
Fishguard’s Traditional Thursday Market is a chartered market and the original local market. Held in the Town Hall every Thursday 8am – 3pm you can find a wide variety of fabulous stalls bringing you simply everything you could want from a market; two butchers, a fishmonger, fruit, veg, plants, bread, cakes, coffee, books, local crafts and more!
Known as the social hub of the town, you can meet your friends and browse the stalls in a friendly, bright, warm, lively atmosphere. Don’t take our word for it; pop and see our regular traders every Thursday, as well as our visiting traders and see for yourself.
