Cycling

Plenty of hills but many miles of beautiful, level quiet roads that will take you to some of our secret places. Cycling North Pembrokeshire is fun and offers everything from a gentle ride along picturesque Gwaun Valley to challenging circular routes on the Tour of Pembrokeshire roads.

Fishing

There are also plenty of opportunities for the adventurous sea angler both around Fishguard’s large harbour and in the secluded bays and inlets along our spectacular coast. Or, closer at hand and more accessible, why not try your hand at coarse fishing on peaceful, picturesque and safe lakes?

Rowing beach sprint, senior

Welsh Beach Sprint Championships – Senior – early May

Watch the spectacle of the Senior elite rowers vying for their podium place in the Welsh National Championships on Goodwick beach. Plenty of action and spectacular athleticism and all hosted by our local coastal sculling academy, Fishguard and Goodwick Jemima Rowing Club.

These regional competitions are aimed at those with some Coastal Sculling experience looking to compete at a higher level. These events are run by a variety of partner organisations such as Scottish Rowing, Welsh Rowing, Coastal Barbarians and Jersey RC.

Battle of Goodwick re-enactment

Medieval Battle Of Goodwick Reenactment – May 17th ⚔

Step back in time and witness history come alive at the 947th anniversary of the Battle of Goodwick – a momentous event that has never before been reenacted! This legendary clash between Deheubarth and Gwynedd, first fought in 1078, will finally be brought to life with thrilling demonstrations and live archery displays from the renowned Y Cantref Breiniol.

The atmosphere will be buzzing with the sounds and flavours of the past, as Ocean Lab Cafe serves up delicious themed food and drink alongside medieval music to set the scene. The fun doesn’t stop when the battle ends at 5pm – Cove corner keeps the energy going with live music from 7pm. Best of all, it’s completely free, making it the perfect day out for the whole family. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be part of what was a major part of Welsh history – join us in Goodwick for a day to remember!

Tour Of Pembrokeshire – 23rd May

The 2026 JCP Solicitors | Tour of Pembrokeshire is scheduled to take place on Saturday 23rd May.  From St David’s, this event will showcase some of the most remarkable aspects of Pembrokeshire, its rugged coastline, serene country lanes, and the magnificent Preseli Hills.

We have arranged for professional photographers, timing points, and even a Hill Climb at Stop & Call for friendly competition. In the unlikely event of any mechanical issues, our support team will be readily available throughout the course. And once you cross the finish line, we invite you to immerse yourself in all that St Davids has to offer.

Welsh International Point to Point & Countryside Day

23rd May at Ffynnon Druidion, Goodwick, Pembs. SA64 0LD

The Countryside Day starts at 10 am and includes; Gun dog demonstrations, Fly fishing instruction and competition, Terrier and Lurcher races,
Dog show, Falconry, Sheep dog demonstration, Sheep shearing, Farrier at work, Childrens’ amusements, Trade and Craft stands, Vintage machinery, Camping on site by arrangement.

Six Point to Point Races, 1st race 2pm with bar and refreshments, on course betting and premium parking.

St Davids Cathedral Music Festival

St Davids Cathedral Festival – 23rd-29th May

We are pleased to announce the return of the St Davids Cathedral Festival in 2026! Join us in May for six days of incredible music from BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Emma Johnson and Friends, The Choir of Royal Holloway, Alaw, Preseli Trio, Cerddorion Ifanc Dyfed Young Music Makers, St Davids Cathedral Choir and the Festival Children’s Chorus!

Fishguard Folk Festival logo

Fishguard Folk Festival – 22nd-25th May

Fishguard Folk Festival, the friendly folk festival by the sea, takes place over the late May Bank Holliday. Most of the events free, apart from three ticketed concerts. Free events include concerts, sessions, workshops, sing-arounds, a ceilidh/twmpath, dance displays, the Pirates and Smugglers Walk, and much more. Acts in 2026 will include: Alaw, Cynefin, Three Daft Monkeys and Riognach Conneoly. Musicians come from England, Ireland and of course Wales, including local favourites and new discoveries. Fishguard Triathlon

Fishguard Triathlon – 6th June

The stunning Fishguard triathlon, which covers a middle-distance route and is set in the picturesque surroundings of Pembrokeshire National Park, attracted a whopping 1000 entries for its 2025 edition, surpassing the previous year’s count of entrants.

The swim is in Fishguard bay, protected by a breakwater on both sides. Bike is an out-and-back on closed roads, scenic one-lap route for the run.  Distance: 950m Swim, 30 M Bike, 4 M Run.

Round table raft race

Raft Race – 20th June

Fishguard and District Round Table’s Raft Race and Fun Day offers an afternoon full of entertainment, with a sandcastle competition, children’s beach treasure hunt, live music and the crazy, annual raft race!

There will be bouncy castles, a barbecue, stalls and fairground games ideal for families from the twin towns and visitors. It will be a fun packed day with lots of things going on.

Single Ocean Canoe

Fishguard Bay Ocean Race 2026 4th-5th July

The Fishguard Bay Ocean Race 2026 is a major downwind race for Ocean Racing Skis and, Outrigger Canoes along North Pembrokeshire’s wild, award winning coast – starting at Goodwick Parrog and crossing 17km of open sea to finish on the wide sandy beach at Newport Sands.

FBOR’26 will be the 11th year of this annual tussle which is also the Welsh Ocean Ski National Championship. Paddlers from all over the UK and beyond compete with their extreme fitness, navigation, boat-handling and seamanship skills, to win this “black-belt,” no-holds-barred ocean race.

Abbagwaun fun

Abbagwaun Festival –  July

Do you dream of a weekend pf Abba music, costume and memorabilia? Then it’s time to dig out your 70s finery, or even make some new, and get the ABBAGwaun Festival in your diary.

The three-day festival in Fishguard/Abergwaun runs from July 5th-7th.Events are being held in venues all around the town and include film screenings, live music, ABBA bingo, costume competitions and a parade.

There will also be a sandcastle competition on the beach with amazing prizes! Get your sequins and dancing shoes on and let’s have fun!

Soap Box Derby

Soap Box Derby –  July

Join the sunsoaked soapbox derby in Fishguard in July as a flotilla of creative carts hurtle down Lota Park hill in front of hundreds of excited spectators. The competitors have a practice run, then three timed runs before a final celebration run to do anything they want!

Organised by Fishguard and District Round Table, members will be out and about early, setting up strawbale barriers at the side of the track and the infamous ramp jump. Expect crowds of locals and visitors, some from far afield cheering on the daredevil soapbox jockeys as they take on the twists and turns of Lota Park hill.

Last Invasion Re-enactment

Last Invasion Of Britain Re-enactment – 18th-19th July

2026 will be the 229th anniversary of the Last Invasion of Mainland Britain by the French in 1797, and the Fishguard Invasion Centre Trust and volunteers are planning a weekend of spectacular re-enactment events for our community and visitors to enjoy.

FAS summer open 2026

Fishguard Art Society Summer Open 14th August – 6th September

Fishguard Arts Society’s Summer Open will take place in the ballroom of Tregwynt Mansion, SA62 5UU from Sunday August 14 to Tuesday September 6th. This is a well established competition that is open to members and non members aged 18 and over. Full details of prizes and entry conditions are on our website.

The theme this year is “One Golden Moment” with up to two works eligible for entry. Tregwynt Mansion is a beautiful historical building  set in its own grounds, with the exhibition spreading over two floors.

Come and join us to celebrate the 205th Anniversary of Fishguard and Goodwick Lifeboat with our Open Day and North Breakwater Walk in August.

Aberjazz

Aberjazz Festival – August

Aberjazz, Fishguard’s far famed summer jazz festival, is back every August with exciting and original acts at a huge range of venues around town.

Aberjazz was started in 2004 by a group of jazz enthusiasts keen to introduce jazz to Fishguard, soon developing into its familiar five-day festival.

Over the years, well known artists have played at the festival, such as Jacqui Dankworth, Courtney Pine, Paul Jones and Andy Fairweather Low.

Fishguard Food Festival – 10th October

Fishguard Bay Sustainable Food Initiative‘s incredibly successful Food Festival returns again! A massive shout out to everyone who worked to make the amazing 2024 festival happen, including the huge effort from volunteers, stallholders, speakers, chefs, workshop leaders, venues, funders and the public who came to support it. We love you all!

Both our main festival venues are accessible to wheelchair users. We have disabled toilets in both Festival locations.

A bowl of hot cawl

The Cawl Crawl!  October

Cawl is a traditional Pembrokeshire dish, originally mutton stew, but now with many delicious modern variations.

Join us on Saturday, October 25th, from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM for a day of delicious cawl across town. Pick up your scorecard from any participating venue, Adults £4, Children £2 (under 12) and take on the challenge! Be sure to come along for the Winners Presentation Evening at 7 PM in Cresswell’s Café, Fishguard.

Round Table Pudsey

Children in Need Bridge Collection.  November.

Each November, Round Table Fishguard and Goodwick set up a ‘road block’ on the Lower Town bridge where Pudsey and his crew, often in fancy dress, exact a toll from all motorists on behalf of Children in Need.

In 2025 they collected £4,000 for this special charity. Please give generously and we’ll make it even more in 2026!

Wow…Just wow. The generosity of our community never ceases to amaze us, and we are so privileged to be living amongst such fantastic people.

Santa's sleigh round

Round Table Santa Sleigh: 27 Nov – 13th December

Every year Round Table Fishguard and Goodwick invite Father Christmas and his elves around Goodwick and Fishguard, who is always pleased to see all the happy children.

The Elves back in the workshop have been working hard on some sleigh upgrades to add a little extra magic for Santa’s upcoming visits. Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us. An elf’s diet of candy canes means that they’re 60% sugar, and can’t get too wet! We love this part of our year, and we get great pleasure from bringing a bit of magic your way.

Boxing-day-duck-race

Boxing Day Duck Race – 26th December

Buy your bright yellow duck early for the Round Table Fishguard and Goodwick annual duck race down the river Gwaun to Lower Town. Heaps of fun and a chance to splash around the shallows egging on your chosen duck.

Lots of locals come down to blow away the Christmas cobwebs, it’s great to see you all supporting this great event which was run in aid of the Chris Peake Bursary Fund this year.

There are great prizes for the first three ducks – 1st is £100!

Fishguard New Year’s Eve Party 2026

The Fishguard New Years Eve street party was started in 2000 & has grown from strength to strength.

We have now added other New Years Eve Events to our Street Party including our fabulous Winter Wonderland situated inside the Town Hall where kids of all ages can join in with our celebration. Activities  from 3pm until 10pm

Fishguard NYE 2026 will be outstanding and look forward to welcoming you. We’re listed in the “Top 10 places to be” so we must be doing something right and don’t forget or fabulous Fireworks display, kindly donated by Stena Line Ferries.
