Dinas Head Walk

A magnificent circular walk of about 7 miles.

The Dinas Head walk is an excellent, moderately challenging choice with spectacular clifftop views over the sea and across North Pembrokeshire’s beautiful, rugged coastline.

The whole circular walk is about 7 miles but, although it tops the northern cliffs at its highest, the progressive gradient is achievable for anyone who is reasonably confident on their feet. Whichever way you start, from Cwm Yr Eglwys or Pwll Gwaelod, the last half mile is reassuringly flat! The suggestion that rising sea levels will restore Dinas Head to being Dinas Island which many locals call it.

It can be accessed by bus on the Poppit Rocket starting in Fishguard Square (e.g. 10am to Pwllgwaelod, returning from Pwllgwaelod at 13.33 to Fishguard. Or start at 14.00 returning from Pwllgwaelod at 17.33). Alternatively, you can walk up from Pwllgwaelod to get the 412 service bus on the main road at Kiel House. Refreshments are available at the Old Sailors, Pwllgwaelod with parking at either Pwllgwaelod or Cwm-yr-Eglwys.

During the summer season there is a coastal minibus service which includes the Poppit Rocket. This starts in Fishguard Square (e.g. 10am to Pwllgwaelod, returning from Pwllgwaelod at 13.33 to Fishguard. Or start at 14.00 returning from Pwllgwaelod at 17.33). Alternatively, you can walk up from Pwllgwaelod to get the T5 Cardigan to Haverfordwest service bus on the main road at Kiel House. Refreshments are available at the Old Sailors, Pwllgwaelod with parking at either Pwllgwaelod or Cwm-yr-Eglwys. Public toilets are at Pwllgwaelod car park.

There is also a slip way here and a small boat storage area. Cwm yr Eglwys was once a small fishing hamlet with its own church. The church was terminally damaged in a great storm in 1850/51. This is a very popular place so get here early if you want to park a car.
