Fishguard Area Pubs

You’ll find a warm welcome and good ales

Once there were 14 Fishguard pubs, but there are still plenty to go round!

Ship Inn

The Ship Inn

The Ship Inn is a roadside Ale House dating back to the late 18th Century, at the mouth of the River Gwaun in Lower Town, Fishguard. It has a long history, much of which is displayed in the vast collection of old maritime photographs and memorabilia in a marvellously unspoiled atmosphere. Free House; Real Ales, Good Beer Guide.

“This gem of a pub is situated in the lower part of Fishguard near to the Harbour. It sits amid a row of terraced houses and can be missed if you are not careful. The first thing that hits you is the small and very cosy interior, full of old pictures, maps and nick-nacks, lending a chat amongst the locals and guests alike, inevitable.” South Yorkshireman

Ship Inn Trefin

The Ship Inn Trefin

The Ship Inn Trefin is in the beautiful Pembrokeshire National Park just 200 yards from the coast path. The old stone country pub is a beautiful, unspoilt piece of history over 200 years old. The landlady Meriel Murphy has been running the ship inn for over 18 years; she, her family and staff extend a warm welcome to everyone, families, couples, coastal ramblers, cyclists, large groups and organized special occasions. At least half of our staff are bilingual and can speak to you in welsh if you prefer.

The Ship Inn is definably worth a visit, an “oldie worldie” welcoming place to relax, a place that people have enjoyed being at since 1797!

Globe Fishguard

The Globe

Hello! Welcome to The Globe Fishguard, a small, friendly pub/eaterie, owned and run by local people Brian and Jean Morris. Brian and Jean have many years’ experience of the pub and catering business and when they opened the Globe in December 2010, after it had been a closed restaurant for a few years and prior to that a pub for many years, decided to create “a place that we would go to ourselves”.

Right on Fishguard’s Main Street, The Globe Inn serves good Ale and good food – and we have now extended our food service hours! Please ring 01348 873999 to book or for further information, or email theglobefishguard@hotmail.co.uk.

The Gate Inn

Gate Inn

Welcome to our family run, free house. We like good fun and welcome children and even dogs in the friendly atmosphere. We have real ale and good pub food at reasonable prices. We serve a traditional Sunday lunch as well as food on other days too.

‘The Gate Inn’ is named from the toll gate that once stood here which may have been the first target of the Rebecca Riots in 1839-43. Many toll-gates on the roads of Wales were operated by trusts to maintain and improve the roads, funding this from tolls. However, many charged extortionate tolls and diverted the money raised to other uses. The rioters calling themselves ‘Rebecca and her children’, broke down toll gates under cover of night.
